Paul’s False Teaching on Food

Food sacrificed to idols.  Paul does, in one place, teach that it is wrong to eat food sacrificed to idols, but then later he may be the first to instill a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy.

Here is what Messiah had to say about one teaching that food sacrificed to idols is acceptable.

Rev 2:14  “But I hold a few matters against you, because you have there those who adhere to the teaching of Bilʽam, who taught Balaq to put a stumbling-block before the children of Yisra’ĕl, to eat food offered to idols, and to commit whoring.

Rev 2:20  “But I hold against you that you allow that woman Izebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and lead My servants astray to commit whoring and to eat food offered to idols.

1Co 8:1  And concerning food offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

“Knowledge puffs up”??  Hmmmmmm!

If you have a Scripture study program on your computer, (they are free downloads online) search the word ‘knowledge’ and see what you get.  Knowledge does NOT puff up!  As Hosea states:

Hos 4:6  “My people have perished for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being priest for Me. Since you have forgotten the Torah of your Elohim, I also forget your children.

Again Paul:

1Co 8:2  If anyone thinks that he knows somewhat, he does not yet know as he should know.

1Co 8:3  But if anyone loves Elohim, this one is known by Him.

1Co 8:4  So then, concerning the eating of food offered to idols, we know that an idol is no matter at all in the world, and that there is no other Elohim but one.

1Co 8:5  For even if there are so-called mighty ones, whether in heaven or on earth – as there are many mighty ones and many masters –

1Co 8:6  for us there is one Elohim, the Father, from whom all came and for whom we live, and one Master יהושע Messiah, through whom all came and through whom we live

1Co 8:7  However, not all have this knowledge. But some, being aware of the idol, until now eat it as having been offered to an idol, so their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

1Co 8:8  But food does not commend us to Elohim, for we are none the better if we eat, nor any worse for not eating.

1Co 8:9  But look to it, lest somehow this right of yours become a stumbling-block to those who are weak.

1Co 8:10  For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s place, shall not his conscience, if he is weak, be built up to eat food offered to idols?

1Co 8:11  So this weak brother, for whom Messiah died, shall perish through your knowledge!

1Co 8:12  Now sinning in this way against the brothers, and wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Messiah.

1Co 8:13  Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I am never again going to eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

1Co 10:18  Look at Yisra’ĕl after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the offerings sharers in the altar?

1Co 10:19  What then do I say? That an idol is of any value? Or that which is offered to idols is of any value?

1Co 10:20  No, but what the gentiles offer they offer to demons and not to Elohim, and I do not wish you to become sharers with demons.

1Co 10:21  You are not able to drink the cup of the Master and the cup of demons, you are not able to partake of the table of the Master and of the table of demons.

1Co 10:22  Do we provoke the Master to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

1Co 10:23  All is permitted me, but not all do profit. All is permitted me, but not all build up.

1Co 10:24  Let no one seek his own, but each one that of the other.

1Co 10:25  You eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions because of conscience,

1Co 10:26  for “The earth belongs to יהוה, and all that fills it.”

1Co 10:27  And if any of the unbelievers invite you, and you wish to go, you eat whatever is set before you, asking no question on account of the conscience.

1Co 10:28  And if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it because of the one pointing it out to you, and on account of the conscience, for “The earth belongs to יהוה, and all that fills it.”

1Co 10:29  Now I say conscience, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience?

1Co 10:30  But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for what I give thanks?

Eat whatever is set before and do not ask?  But if they tell you it was sacrificed to an idol, do not eat it.  HMMMMM  eat, don’t eat.  Make up your mind Paul!  And what was it that Messiah said?

Rev 2:14  “But I hold a few matters against you, because you have there those who adhere to the teaching of Bilʽam, who taught Balaq to put a stumbling-block before the children of Yisra’ĕl, to eat food offered to idols, and to commit whoring.

Rev 2:20  “But I hold against you that you allow that woman Izebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and lead My servants astray to commit whoring and to eat food offered to idols.

Paul again in his letter to Timothy nullifies the Torah of food laws when he claims that all creatures are clean.

1Ti 4:1  But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teachings of demons,

1Ti 4:2  speaking lies in hypocrisy, having been branded on their own conscience,

1Ti 4:3  forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods which Elohim created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

1Ti 4:4  Because every creature of Elohim is good, and none is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

I teach what is in the Torah and what my Messiah taught and what the Ruach (Spirit) teaches and this is confirmed in those verses from Revelation 2.

Wayiqra (Leviticus) chapter 11 tells us what creatures are clean and what are unclean and are not to be for food.  Again, Paul is taking us away from the Torah and claiming all creatures acceptable for food when he says: You can go to a pagan’s (gentile’s) house and eat whatever he eats, even if it is commanded by Yahweh that we not eat unclean food.  The Food Laws given in Torah cannot be done away with as Messiah said “Not one jot or tittle will change from the Torah…”  If Yahweh says it is an abomination to eat or even touch the carcass of a pig, and He also says that He never changes, how is it that Paul now deems all creatures good and not to be rejected.  Messiah says that if you keep all the commands but transgress just one of them you become a transgressor of the Torah.  Paul claims adherence to the Torah but that is simply not true.

Either Yahusha Messiah is a liar or Paul is a liar, you choose!

Yahweh’s Food Laws

Again, ;

Mat 5:17  “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete.

Mat 5:18  “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.

All is not completed until Yahusha returns and the millennial reign is at its end, the end of the 1000 year reign of Messiah.  That is when this earth and the heavens we now see disappear, and Yahweh creates a new heaven and a new earth and He pours out His Spirit on all flesh, we will no longer have to teach each other, we will no longer have to search for Yahweh, because we will all know Yahweh.  That is the completion of what we know as this life on this earth, in this form.

So, everything, every command, every statute, including His Torah concerning food still stands today.  Yahweh does not want us to consume unclean food into our bodies.  The ‘bibles’ that have the added comment about ‘by saying this, ‘jesus’ made all food clean’ is a comment added by the person or group who wrote that particular version of the Book.  It was an interpretation, and a very incorrect interpretation.  The passages used to argue this point by the ‘church’ have absolutely nothing to do with ‘food’, they are either about the washing of hands or about taking the message of Messiah to the gentiles.  When you see parenthesis around a word or phrase in Scripture, that means it was added by someone, it was not part of the original text.

Note:  much of the so-called ‘new testament’ is not true to the original writings of the Messianic writings.  Much was changed and added.  I would suggest reading the two following books:

“Misquoting Jesus” by;  Bart D, Ehrman

This little book explains how the original writings were copied by unprofessional ‘scribes’ and how they interpreted and added their own views as they copied.

The other suggested book is free on-line (to read) at:

“Not one jot or tittle…” ! !

This is not only in the Torah in Wayiqra (Leviticus) chapter 11, but also in the Prophet Yeshayahu (Isaiah) as well.  The last 7+ chapters of Yeshayahu are prophetic to our future, which is upon us today, Yeshayahu tells us that eating the flesh of pigs and unclean foods are still an abomination to Yahweh.  Period ! !

Eating is not a complete interpretation of what is meant in the original Scripture.  To ‘consume’ is a better meaning that means you do not take it into your body in any form, not in food, vitamins, inoculations, vaccines, transfusions or any other means. Period!!  Much of our processed foods these days contain unclean substances, pig and shellfish and their shells (carcass) are used as sources of calcium and many other foods, herbal supplements and medicines.  We break the commands of Yahweh every time we ‘consume’ these foods and/or substances.

Yahweh had His reasons for this whether we understand or agree or not.  Have you ever noticed how many people have food allergies to shellfish?  Yahweh had a reason, they are unclean, they are the garbage disposals of the sea, they, like pig and other unclean animals, do not have the filters internally that keep what they eat from entering their flesh.  What they eat, you eat.  Yahweh did not want us to eat the excrement of other fish, or other animals, or their own excrement.  When they consume these substances and you consume them, you are consuming everything they eat.  They say they have cleaned up what they feed pigs and that makes it cleaner.  Have you visited a pig farm lately?

The Torah also tells us not to treat the Torah or commands with ‘partiality’.  Do not pick and choose, obeying what you agree with and not obeying if you don’t or because it tastes good.  I believe Yahweh gives us commands that we may never understand, yet just because He told us to do or not to do something is good enough reason, because you love Him and follow His ‘house rules’.

If you love Him, you will obey Him!!  There are a few unclean foods that I still miss, I must admit, though pig is NOT one of them.  Once you get away from eating pig, it gets to be, when you do have to smell it, IT STINKS !   It is no wonder Yahweh did not want us to eat it, He did not want to smell it cooking!  However, for the few foods that I do miss, I love Yahweh/Yahusha so much that giving up a few moments of pleasing my palette is a small price to pay.  Part of the ‘sacrifice’ I offer as a ‘freewill offering’ to my Elohim.  Praise Yahweh!
